This is the final installment of the Magical Mayhem series (or is it?!) and as always with Ms Breene, it didn't fail to deliver. Penny and Emery continue their take down of the Mages' Guild along with their band of merry helpers, many of whom are from the Fire and Ice Trilogy. I loved continuing to read about Darius (swoon) and Reagan and was thrilled that they played key parts throughout this novel. There's even a cheeky set up for a couple of new characters as well as a hint that Reagan and Darius' stories will continue in the future. Penny really came into her own in this book and it was great to see her character continue to develop alongside of Emery, both as individuals and as a couple. I love the world that K.F. Breene creates, so much so that I think I have a bit of withdrawal when they end. This will be yet another series of hers that I'll re-read with pleasure and get more out of it every time I do. I noticed in the reviews that someone didn't like the nicknames Emery uses for Penny - I personally found this charming, especially since there was so much emphasis in the book about how much he adores her. For fans of Reagan and Penny, they continued to work in a positive, yet hilariously chaotic manner throughout and I LOVE that this book played up how two strong, female leads can not only work together without being trying to out do each other, but can also support each other as women. Honestly, I wish we'd see more of this in other books. The flow of the story was easy to read but still detail enough and I look forward to continuing the story of some of them in future books. Honestly, I've re-read them so much they're almost like family at this point lol.
Absolutely loved everything about this final entry in the trilogy. K.F. Breene has woven paranormal fantasy infused with intricate battle, intriguing plot and satisfying story arc while still retaining a beautifully tender love story. I’ve been a fan since the Darkness series, loved the Fire & Ice trilogy (which lays the foundation for this trilogy, so if you haven’t read it - get it) and love this one equally, if not more. Penny and Emery really captured my empathy with their individual and merged stories. I LOVE the depth and detail to all the surrounding characters, too and can’t wait to see some of them surface again with even more detail or their own stories in future. Cahal was a fabulous new introduction that I want more of and Roger HAS to have his own story. I really aporeciate that KF still brought this trilogy to a satisfying conclusion while leaving the door open for more. I loathe cliff/hangars but I also hate to see worldbuilding stories and characters truly come to an end. I remain hopeful for future spinoffs. There is so much more this author has yet to bring to life and she’s already a solid autobuy for my kindle; a tribute to the depth and power her writing demonstrates. A great end to this trilogy!
Beautiful. Wonderful. What an entertaining escape! The whole crew of characters rock. A glorious completion to the original arc and an introduction to the next one. Ms. Breene, hurry up! I loved this story, thank-you.This story is rated R for violence and sexual content.Note that the author interleaves this series with her Fire and Ice trilogy. Same world, same style of writing, same humor and page-turning suspense. I love both series. Which series you read first is a dilemma. I read the first two books of this series, Magical Mayhem (MM1 & MM2), and then read the three in Fire and Ice (FI1-3). There are spoilers doing it that way. But Penny makes appearances in Fire and Ice that doesn’t make as much sense without reading this book (MM1), so I recommend reading FI1, MM1, FI2, FI3, and then MM2, but if you don’t want to break up the flow of Fire & Ice, read FI before MM.
Just finished Natural Dual Mage and I really liked how it wrapped up the trilogy, yet left enough open for me to hope for more stories (especially where Reagan, Darius and Cahal are concerned). If you've been reading the series, you know that Penny and Emery are going to have to take on the Guild to put an end to the corruption. In order to do so, they have to gather their allies, which means getting the vampires and shifters to play nice together long enough to defeat their common enemy.Once they do, the battles begin and it's action packed until the end. I loved how Reagan and Penny work together and each of their craziness compliments the other's. I love Penny's mom's vague and misspelled predictions. I really liked Cahal and hope he gets a trilogy of his own. All in all, it's another great book and I'm hoping for more in the DDVN world.
This is FANFREAKINGTASTIC!! I was on edge through the entire book and I may have emotional whiplash from laughing, screaming and then the sweet scenes with Emery and Penny. I love those two together! More of Reagan and Darius is always awesome. I was thrilled to see all of the characters but Hellooooo Cahal *wiggles eyebrows* I need to learn more about this man. I can already see he could fill a few books on his own.I hope to learn the story on Roger and also the lone warthog, I am still laughing about that one and need to know who it is.This book had everything I love in a great read. A fantastic story, action, humor, heat and the best characters.I absolutely recommend everyone read this book along with all of the others by K.F. Breene!
The Mage Guild is corrupt to its very core, and the only way it is you t to leave Emery and Penny alone is to take the battle right to their doorstep. Author K. F. Breene wraps up Penny's story (for now at least) by banding together all the big time magical players: the vampires, including Darius and Vlad, the shifters, the dual mage pairs, both old and young, and wild card Reagan Somerset. This battle-ready group also includes Penny's mother (and what a marvelous character she is!). This novel is fast paced, violent, and cheerful, a close-to-perfect combination. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good supernatural read, but it is not a stand-alone novel. Be sure to read the earlier books in this series before diving in.
